A new Subaru E-E36 wagon, a “high-performance SUV” according to Subaru, is finally going to make its debut on the road this coming summer, thanks to an update to the automaker’s existing e-tron.
The E-36 wagon will debut on September 25, 2018, according to the new website for Subaru’s North American factory in Dearborn, Michigan.
Subaru’s updated E-trons are currently in the works for other European markets as well, and the company hopes to have them on sale for sale in the United States by the end of 2018.
The new E-Tron is an all-new SUV, and unlike its predecessor, the E-Pron, the new one features a new engine and transmission system that make it the first in its class to use a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine.
The all-wheel-drive system, however, is an entirely new setup.
In addition to its new architecture, the 2017 E-pron was one of the few cars in the lineup to have the engine swap, and it was only offered with an all wheel-drive setup.
That change allowed Subaru to offer a second-generation version of the E36.
The 2018 E-e36 wagon has been undergoing extensive work since it was unveiled last year, and Subaru says the all-metal wagon has undergone an overhaul that includes new interior features.
As a result, the 2018 E36 will be equipped with a 5.6-liter inline-four that powers the new 5.0L V-8 engine.
Subaru also says the new E36 is a “modernized and advanced SUV,” with “a unique performance package that offers increased fuel efficiency and more torque” and will be available as a six-speed automatic transmission with the standard CVT package.
The 2019 E-pede wagon will also get a new interior, and according to its official website, the 2019 E36 and its engine swap will go on sale in late 2019.
As for pricing, Subaru says a base E36 with all-all-wheel drive will cost $35,300, while the e-pedes add $1,800 more.
A more expensive E36E with all three engines and CVT will start at $39,400, while a mid-size sedan with the four-cylinder engine will start from $45,400.
While Subaru isn’t releasing exact pricing for the 2018-2019 models, the company has said it expects the two-seat e-penned wagon to sell for between $40,000 and $50,000.
A similar four-seater E-360E will also be available in 2019.
Subaru says that the E35 wagon will be priced between $41,000 to $48,000, while both the e36 and e36E will cost between $49,000-$52,000 depending on the options.
The e36e wagon won’t go on the market until 2021, but we don’t know if the 2018 model will be the last.
In fact, Subaru is reportedly working on a successor to the e35 wagon, which will be produced from 2019 to 2022.
The company is also reportedly working to bring a second wagon to the US market in 2020, though we don://t know if this will be a sedan or a crossover.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
