The Indian men who look more like men in films and on TV are becoming more attractive as they age, according to a new study that found the most attractive face shape in a group of men was that of a man with large, full cheeks.
The study, published in the journal Aging, found men with large cheeks and an oval face shape are the most likely to be considered handsome by women and attractive by men.
They are also less likely to have a serious facial defect, such as an underbite, as well as being taller and lighter in build.
The findings come as a survey by the University of California, Los Angeles, said that India’s population is growing by a third a year, but the proportion of the population over the age of 55 is still shrinking.
Researchers in India said they hoped the study could help in their efforts to understand the attractiveness of men with facial traits, which include large faces and prominent noses.
“It may be that the faces of older men may not have been well defined by society, and they may be less socially acceptable,” said Prof. Vicky D. Chittrakar, who led the study.
